HAPPY ‘COW’ YEAR EVERYONE!!!!!

This year CNY hasn’t been that happening…
Hahah… Recession…
But family bonding makes it a happy festive season that i’ll look forward to=)

Usual visitings and gatherings and itinary…
And cause I’m from a rather big family,
plus the fact that both my parents are the youngest in their families…
We have alot of visiting to do every year…

So DAY 1!!!
As usual we woke up pretty early due to all the loud “DONG DONG CHIANG” music in which my Mum always blast on chu 1 to wake us up…
hahaha… what a way right…  lolxzx
And we got all dressed up and ready to bai nian to Mum and Dad…

Family tradition remains unchanged…

ARE YOU GOING TO FINISH STRONG?

Inspiring isn’t it…

Okay this whole chunk is actually quite personal. I have to say the first thing that comes to my mind while watching the video was all the defeats from the invisible competition in the family.  Yesterday nite, mum and I had a talk. A usual mum and daughter conversation until we talked about my brothers. I was finally able to pluck up that courage in me to share with her exactly what I have been facing all these years. I have to say. I’m really fortunate from the start. I have a complete family. I have good parents which I have been taking for granted they will always be with me.

Dad has been the sole breadwinner of the house, providing me with a comfortable life.  He’s a really good father, a good role model. Out of the three of us, I’m always said to be the one who’s most like him, taking after his character, his look, his attitude. But due to his work and other commitments, i grow up to be more of a mummy’s girl than a daddy’s girl. And I have the perfect mum in my eyes. No matter how rebellious I got, how rude I treated her during arguments, how much I’ve changed, she will definitely be the one and only person standing by me when the whole world falls on me.

And I have to say I’m very very proud of my family. I’m proud to tell others, Hey my dad is a warrant officer in the army. My mum is my shopping partner, we go ktv tgt etc. My elder brother is a naval diver. My younger brother is a young boy that aunties and neighbors always goes up to my mum telling her how well-behaved they think he is.

And inevitably, as much as I’m proud to tell others about my family, I want my family to feel proud of me too. Hence, I always pop this question to myself, “So… Am I achieving enough to make my parents and brothers proud of me?”

My brothers and I were brought up in a pretty strict environment. And by nature, we’re all very competitive. Especially when he is simply 1 year older than me. Comparisons are always there. We fight over everything since young. We fight for Mum’s attention, we fight over whether to play cooking or mini soldiers, we fight for the last nugget, we fight for the front car seat, we fight for who bathe first, we fight for the use of computer, we fight for TV channels, we fight for EVERYTHING. Till date we’re still competing. On the surface as well as deep within.

We don’t share about this. But it is this competitive character in us, topping up with external comparisons, that made defeats between us two feeling more bitter than failure anywhere else. When I lost a game to another team, I share it with my Mum, and she feels it with me. When I lost out in results to my peers, I share it with my Mum, and she feels it with me. But when I lose to him, on the other end is a winning brother, also a winning son. And I don’t share this with anyone at all.

He has always been a high-flyer. I’m v proud of him seriously. I look up to him. And I want to be like him. Better than him even. There may be times I overtook. But I’ve come to realise I’ve been living in his shadows. The more I want to win, the more I tag behind him, do what he’s doing so we’re on a level competition. He becomes a leader, and I yearn to be one. And I did. He was elected the executive member of the student coucil, and I yearn to be one too. And I did. He got into a junior college, and I wanted to be the same. And by all means I forced my way into a junior college. He took the science stream and I follow suit. Ultimately, I realized… I haven’t been doing what I know I’m capable of and what I like doing. Because of my over-competiveness in the family, I lost control of my own life. I lost on the surface repetitively and I lost myself.

The more I tried to win, the more I lost. The harder I fell, the more difficult I find it to pick myself up from each fall.

BUT! Nothing is going to take this competitivess away.

Not the failures, not those losses.

All I have to do is bring myself out of that shadow and keep the game going.

Just like what Nick Vujicic said in the video,

“Are you going to finish strong? You will find the strength to get back up.“

Am I going to finish strong??

How am I going to finish strong.

I think I found the answer.

And my choice, despite all the odds, had in fact been the first step out.

I have to get on the stage.

And out of that mezzanine.

Alrighto!!!
I’m back again…

Am so not excited…
Except the friends gathering part…
WHY!

Because I feel FAT this year!!!
haha… normally for the past 6 years it has been intensive training for the seasons in the month of Jan…
But!! haha… haven been keeping very fit recently…
Was telling mummy I’m going to go all wrapped up for CNY…
Maybe  go on some ninja turtle trend this year…

Okay… But i still bought a dress… haha…
So i have 1 week to get toned up abit…
But it doesn’t help at all with all the new year goodies lying around…

And angbao doesn’t seem to be very appealing now…
Coz its all going into CLUB FUND!!!
Sad ain’t it…
But I guess it’s worth it… For the game yeah…
Provided I get a positive reply for the issue I raised… =)

Chapter 113

Wahahahhaha….

4 awesome days after school starts…
So far so good=)
Lessons are on for the whole of this week…
And I’ve been good…
Preparing for lessons, waking up on time, AND staying awake and attentive during lectures!!
Hahahah… I shall give myself a big big round of applause… *claps!!*

And yes… I made quite a number of friends…
Mostly from my OG group…
We hang around in one whole group all the time so there’s definitely big hoo-haas around everyday…
Oh… and I have a 925 chicken rice gang!!! WeEEeT!!! HAHA..
Made up of the North-landers…

On the first day…
Coincidentally without any pre-discussion on the meeting time…
I just hopped on the train and the rest of them (4 others) just hopped on from their respective stations at the same cabin…
Haha… And so, our go-to-school-together group is formed since day 1…

After school, which is simply a 3 hour lecture…
We went to Botak Jones at Clementi…
And thereafter splitted with the green-line people.. Lolxzx…
Went on to Causeway, walk around and talk abit at Macs before Crumpler no. 1 leaves for his tuition lesson and the rest went on home….

Day 2 was Stats lesson no 2…
Getting more and more interesting…
Cause I learned about most concepts back in JC…
And stats had been MY scoring topic thanx to MARAN!!
Lolzxxz…. sample variance, sample mean, range, quartiles and all…
3 hours lecture was one big transition for me…
But am still able to take it without drifting off too much.. Haha…

After school was lunch at some hawker…
And vivo was next with the Brendam, Murali, Yida, Lisa and Ada…
We went to catch SEVEN POUNDS…

It was a flash back kind of show that could leave you with question marks all around from the start…
But I would say it’s a really good production , worth to watch…
Like how the director presents it in Pursuit of Happiness, the style is the same with certain silence here and there and scenes that left you thinking why-is-he-doing-this and things liddat…
It can get quite depressing and emotional at certain points where you can actually be made to feel the kind of guilt and loads weighing on the main character, coz Will Smith really feels the part he played..
The storyline is really good…
How he goes about changing the life of 7 strangers…
Even the way to die is something… erm… UNIQUE… haha…
Go catch that show… Nice=)

Wed was a full day lesson…
2 lectures, morning and afternoon..
Accounting is starting… Haha…
And we’re learning about certain terms which I came across when I was doing admin… Lolxzx…
Ownership, partnership, drawings, inventory and stuff…
Very thereotical topic…
that’s where random drawing on each other lecture notes started and written msn messenger across 6 people.. haha!!

Thursday. Today…
After lessons, 11 of us headed to Daniel’s place for a TABOO session…
Haha… damn cool his house got a pool table and a piano for us to play…
And a small area that looks like a fortune-telling area…
And so small Lisa started her fortune-telling nonsense… hahaha…
Taboo is fun lar…. Seriously…
Incident of the day has got to be the word ‘SERVICE’.

Oh… Coach called me on Wed asking me if I wanted to take up coaching at Bukit Batok Sec which will commence the following day after signing the contract…
Like yeah…. Finally gotten a school…
But!! Coz of my timetable… which consist of mostly noon lessons..
I couldn’t commit to that… and so have to give it up…
There goes my 35 per hour… Booo!!!
Still gna take up the coaching course, maybe can commit to some ad-hoc projects or sign on some schools that can accomodate my timings…

Sent my schedule over to Lulu as well… haha…
Hopefully can earn some allowance from AK…
I need money!! To buy textbooks that are so freaking EX!!!
AND transport too!!!! wanna comprain again…
SO EXPENSIVE CAN!!
2 days and i spent 10bucks on bus n train rides…
And SIM doesn’t issue tertiary student pass…
So meaning NO CONCESSION for me…

Payday was on Monday… haha…
but totally felt the pinch to part with my money just like that…

FIRST POST FOR 2009!!!

Finally…
Done and over with 08 and here comes the NEW YEAR!!!

I didn’t even want to round up the year cause I wasn’t really free and also…
I can’t be bothered… Haha…
But whatever… I’m glad 2009 is here…

Fresh START. New GOALS. Many CHANGES.

I’m excited about this year…

I’m going back to school again…
And this time round I made that decision to go for something I like…
Preparing for something I’m gonna go into in future…
I’m trying to keep my excitement and forward looking-ness to minimal profile…
Hahahah… Cause I know many dread school re-opening…

Definitely this is the first time I’m having such positive mindset towards school…
Hmmm…. Maybe comparable to the feelings before Pri 1?? lolxzx..

I was happily printing lecture notes and reading through them just now until the printer ran out of ink… Donkxzzx…

Stationary shopping was done today… And next up…
Gotta go source for 2nd hand textbooks…
Anybody can help???

Let’s hope the excitement is not ONE DAY hurh… haha…

Alright…. What’s new year without RESOLUTIONS…

I have 3 major resolutions and a list of minor ones… ahahhaha…
And shall only mention the major ones…

Mission Number 1:
Yes… you could have guessed it…
Achieving good grades in BBMFT is gonna be the top priority for this year..
Couldn’t really state an exact target grade coz i really dunno what to expect…
Oh and I really hope to do well and am aiming for the BIG ‘S’….

Mission Number 2:
Hahaha… I find this quite funny coz its coming out from my mouth…
And I can’t believe it too!!!
But SamLeeXinYi!!! That email was definitely a wake-up-call for me…
I WANNA GET BACK INTO THE GAME…
Mission no. 2 shall be commitment in Llabten and spreading the we-still-love-netball-deep-down virus around…
(Hahaha… Shan! you’re in this with me kay!!)

oH…. but to date…. like what bernice said…
Our attendance is 100% but shan, urs is ZERO%…
Hahahahaha…. okay… that’s after ONE training in 09…

Mission Number 3:
I wanna hit the savings target that I didn’t hit last year…
And yes that also means I’m gonna find means of income through coaching or part-time here and there…
I NEED THE MONEY!!!

Sidetracking alittle… n I still dun understand why my club fund is $120 while the rest is only $90 for the 3 local unis…
And I’m taking FT course unlike past year PT students who are able to work fulltime…
And my fees is like way more expensive…
And its not about whether I can afford anot…
I wouldn’t want to say I have difficulty paying the additional 30bucks coz if that is the amount I ought to chip in to club fund, I will pay…
But considering the status I’m in as a current FT uni student as well…
I see no reason why I have to pay 120, while the rest 90…
Just becoz it’s SIM???
Can’t we be more flexible in this sense???
And yes… I’m gonna raise this issue def… hmph…

HAHA!! okay… sorry for being anti-climax…
Back to the resolutions…

I still have quite a number of small small goals… Hahah…
Like getting my license, widening my social network, getting a coaching cert, trying out a new sport, maybe, HAHA…

Let’s see how many boxes in my checklist will be ticked at the end of the year… waahahaha…

2009 is gonna be MY YEAR!!! or rather…

I’M GONNA MAKE IT MINE!!!
